Liven Up Your Party!: Ice Cream Sundae Bar

An Ice Cream Sundae bar is a great way to liven up any event. To start out, make a list of the ice cream and toppings that you wish to have. Here are some suggestions:

  • Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate
  • Chocolate syrup/ Hot Fudge
  • Carmel
  • Butterscotch
  • Sprinkles/Jimmies (rainbow or chocolate)
  • Whipped Cream
  • Maraschino Cherries
  • Gummy Bears
  • M & M's
  • Oreo's
You can buy fairly cheap glass sundae dishes and spoons at Walmart or any other grocery store. So set up the ice cream and the toppings and let the party begin!

Friday's Party Favor: Candy Buffet

A Candy Buffet is the perfect way to wrap up a party! It is simple and sure to be a hit at any wedding, party, or other event! To start, make a list of between 8 and ten candies or baked goods. Here are some ideas:
1. Gummy Worms/Bears
2. Hershey's Miniatures
3. Chocolate or Yogurt covered Pretzels
4. Nerds, Laffy Taffy, Sweet Tarts, Other Wonka Candy
5. M & M's
6. Skittles (sour, original, tropical etc.)
7. Fresh Chocolate Chip Cookies
8. Anything from the 101 things to dip in chocolate list
9. Mini Cupcakes
10. Brownies

Any of these things are great! Come up with your own ideas too! Next find cool containers and jars to display the candy in. I found that different sized mason jars are good for an Alice in Wonderland party, but matching crystal glasses are better for a wedding. Choose something that matches with your theme. You can also wrap a cardboard box in wrapping paper to use for elevating some of your jars.

Next find something for your guests to put their goodies in! Chinese food containers work great for this purpose. You can order them from Amazon.com in a variety of colors, designs, and sizes. They are also very affordable. Adding monograms to the boxes can add a nice personalized touch.

An important step to making your candy buffet a success is making it look nice. Arrange your candy in jars so that it looks like it is meant to be there, and wasn't just thrown there. Another nice touch is to add flowers to either side of your table. Find a nice table cloth and runner to add color. Tie different size and color ribbon to the jars.

Hope your candy buffet is a success!

Thursday's Theme: Cinderella's Ball

A Cinderella Ball is the perfect theme for any romantic wedding, or girly sweet 16! There are plenty of decoration opportunities! For example, you can drape the tables in white and baby blue tulle. Then you can use mirrors and crystals to decorate the table tops. For and added effect, you could use crystal clear candle sticks or chandeliers. If at all possible, find a room with a grand staircase. You can use tulle and bows to decorate the stairs for the bride or the guest of honors grand entrance.
A royal menu might include finger sandwiches and white oreo truffles (see recipe). You can also buy cinderella castle chocolate sucker molds from Ebay or Amazon. You could also get glass slipper molds and use a special food glitter called luster dust to make them shiny.
For invitations, you could print them out on parchment paper, then tea stain them to make them look old. Then roll them up like scrolls and tie them with fancy ribbon. The invitation itself should read something like this:
You are cordially invited
by
order of
_______(name)_______
To the Royal Ball
on
____(date)_____
From
_______(time)_______
Until
______(time)______
At the
______(venue)_____
Please RSVP at
_____(phone)_____
We hope you can attend

Hope these ideas help you plan your perfect party!

Wednesday's Party Tip: Reserving a date!

When planning a party or event, the ideal situation would be everyone on your guest list coming right? So take in to account the people on your guest list. Are they on certain sports teams, have certain activities, jobs? Use these tips to help you make sure everyone is able to come!

  1. Pick a few different dates that are good for you, and the venue you wish to have the event in.
  2. Show these dates to your guests and have them choose the best one.
  3. Choose your date based on when the guests you want to come the most are avaliable!
*Some other helpful hints would be planning way in advance to give you enough time to change the date if necessary!
*Remember, not everyone you invite will necessarily attend.
